Primary school teachers in Viluppuram and neighbouring Kallakurichi districts staged demonstrations to draw attention to a 20-point list of demands concerning their professional and service-related issues. Protests were reported across several educational blocks of Viluppuram District.
The demonstrations included teachers from areas such as Koliyanur, Kanai, Tiruvennainallur, Melmalayanur, Gingee and Mailam. Among the demands raised by the teachers was the restoration of the old pension scheme, along with other issues relating to their service conditions. The protests brought attention to the concerns of primary school teachers and their expectations regarding government action on the issues raised by their organisations.
