District-level gymnastics and judo competitions were organised in Viluppuram as part of efforts to encourage sports and physical education among school students. The competitions provided young athletes with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete at the district level.
Students participated across different age groups, including Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories. Around 800 students reportedly took part in the competitions, highlighting the strong interest in sporting activities among students in the district. Such events provide students with opportunities to develop discipline, fitness, confidence and competitive skills alongside their academic education.
The initiative also supports the broader objective of encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities and identify young sporting talent from schools across Viluppuram.
