Vikravandi gained national political attention after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) selected the constituency area in Viluppuram District for its first major state-level political conference in October 2024. The event marked a significant stage in actor-turned-politician Vijay’s entry into electoral politics.
The conference at V. Salai village attracted substantial attention and was used by the newly formed party to present its political ideology, policies and future roadmap. The event also established Viluppuram as an important location in the early development of TVK’s organisational identity. Vijay later expanded the party’s statewide outreach programme, including plans to visit Viluppuram as part of its district-level political tour.
