Primary school teachers staged protests across several parts of Viluppuram District demanding action on a range of issues, including the restoration of the old pension scheme.
The protest was part of a wider demonstration involving teachers from Viluppuram and Kallakurichi districts. Demonstrations were reported in several blocks, including Koliyanur, Kanai, Tiruvennainallur, Melmalayanur, Gingee and Mailam. The teachers highlighted their 20-point list of demands and called for appropriate action from the authorities.
